Baja Botanical Research Program

Baja Botanical Research Program

The Baja Botanical Research Program is part of the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) & aims to protect Baja’s rich pristine island ecosystems. As part of the outreach activities of the group, expeditions are held that take scientists, volunteers & students to visit Baja’s islands. Research conducted on these expeditions helps scientists better understanding how these unique ecosystems are changing with shifts in climate. BRIT came to TASON needing help to design a platform that could store all of their expedition outputs including logs of past expeditions in Mexico. The site TASON produced does just that & also includes literature relevant to each expedition as well as an inventory of species logged by the institute’s scientific teams. The platform is now regularly used as a base for the institute to present their findings to stakeholder groups & the Mexican government to promote the continued conservation of these unique islands & their associated flora & fauna.
